University of Texas at Austin officials have decided to let students and faculty return to campus after a bomb scare.

The University of Texas at Austin and North Dakota State University have been reopened after both schools faced two separate bomb scares on Friday.

UT President Bill Powers said that the campus has been searched thoroughly and that he was ?extremely confident that the campus is safe.?

According to media reports, an unidentified man called the school at 8:35 a.m., claiming to be a member of al-Qaida. He claimed having placed bombs on campus.

North Dakota State did not release details of its bomb threat to the public. The school did close for evacuation at 10:15 a.m. It has since reopened.
