Australia boss Holger Osieck says veteran Harry Kewell could still make his squad for next year's World Cup.
The former Leeds and Liverpool attacker hasn't played for the national team for over a year but has looked extremely sharp since returning to his homeland with Melbourne Heart last month.
Kewell has represented the Socceroos at each of the last World Cups and with the team currently struggling in attack, momentum has started to grow behind a recall for the veteran.
Osieck has always maintained that he won't rule anyone out of contention and says the 34-year-old remains in his plans ahead of next summer's tournament in Brazil.
"I always kept saying, whoever plays and performs has a chance, no matter what his name is, his position is, his club is. It's about performance and regular play," the coach told reporters. "Due to the fact that he's back in Australia it's very easy to follow up on him (Kewell)."
