Polar Plunge Benefits Homeless Pets - St. Louis News & Weather from

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) -? It?s a cause for pause, four paws that is. On Tuesday 45 like minded pet lovers and thrill seekers gathered at Gordon Moore Park to raise money for the Hope Rescues Animal Shelter.

?You go under and you run out and you won?t be able to think straight for a minute.? You can?t feel your hands and feet but after about five minutes you start to feel back to normal.? said Co-organizer Trisha Cruz.

I know what you?re thinking.? Why would anyone want to take off most of their clothes and go jump in a frozen lake?

?For the animals, you know last year we raised around $4,000 in ten minutes.? said Trisha Cruz.

?This year they will raise more than $5,000. That?s why these frozen folks were willing to plunge for their pooch, take a dive for a dog or getting frozen for man?s best friend.
? ?
?It?s refreshing New Year?s Day after having a couple of? cocktails.? It wakes you up and gets you going for the New Year.? said Co-organizer Alison Dreith.

You might call it one of those ice cold bucket list type of things.
