HONOLULU ? Communications Pacific (CommPac) has promoted Russell Pang to senior vice president, and both Andrew Garrett and Travis Taylor to vice president.

Pang rejoined CommPac in August after serving as chief of media relations for former Governor Linda Lingle during her two terms in office. He previously worked for CommPac, from 1991 to 2002, and headed the company?s corporate communications practice as vice president. He has served on the board of directors for the International Association of Business Communicators? Hawaii chapter as well as the Life Foundation, Hawaii?s largest HIV/AIDS service organization. A graduate of Punahou School, he earned a bachelor?s degree in economics and Asian studies from the University of Colorado and an MBA from American University in Washington, D.C.

Garrett joined CommPac in 2005. He works primarily with government and private-sector clients on a variety of projects and cultural issues that require gaining the trust of and communicating intensively with communities throughout Hawaii. Previously, he served as legislative office manager to Rep. Kenneth T. Hiraki during the state Legislature?s sessions from 2003 to 2005. He also served as clerk for the House Consumer Protection and Commerce Committee from 2002 to 2005. In addition, he served on the Mililani-Waipio-Melemanu Neighborhood Board from 2005 to 2008, and the Manoa Neighborhood Board from 2008 to 2010. Garrett earned his bachelor?s degree in political science, with distinction, and his master?s degree in public administration, with a concentration on political leadership, from the University of Hawaii.

Taylor joined CommPac in 2010. He had previously served as senior advisor of communications for former Lt. Governor James ?Duke? Aiona, where he advanced communications and policy objectives on critical issues, such as clean energy, public education and the economy. Earlier, he was a senior account executive for Wilson-Miller Communications, a Sacramento-based public affairs consulting firm, where he directed the day-to-day management of several grassroots advocacy campaigns. His clients included Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Dell and Conaway Preservation Group. A public relations graduate of California State University, Sacramento, he has extensive experience in media relations, issues management, crisis communications and community building.
